Dwight Schrute to be McCain's VP?

"The all-but-certain Republican nominee did reveal a few tidbits. His Secret Service code name, he thinks, "is 'jerk,"' and his choice for a vice presidential running mate is Dwight Schrute, a character on the NBC sitcom, "The Office," played by Rainn Wilson."

Why Dwight Supports Hillary

Yesterday, I predicted how The Office characters might vote in the PA Primary (after all, they do work in Scranton!).

If you missed it, check it out here.

"The Committee to Reinvade Vietnam"

While last night's episode of The Office was an improvement over last weeks, 30 Rock continues to come dangerously close to over-taking them as my favorite Thursday-night show.

Last night's episode of 30 Rock was pretty darn good. Jack (Alec Baldwin) was hosting a "Committee to reinvade Vietnam" fundraiser for John McCain.  (And that was in the first minute of the show).

In terms of The Office, I still feel it's weaker than previous years.  Creed's line about wanting three chairs was totally weird, and totally hillarious.  And I think the whole proposal thing reignited the tension between Jim and Pam which, let's be honest, had gotten very, very stale.  So I haven't given up hope -- but I find myself looking forward to 30 Rock more than for The Office.  Who woulda' thunk it?

Cubicle Revolution?

Are you part of the Cublice Revolution?

Here's a view from TH's "Bullpen" (note The Office calendar on the right):

More Cowbell ... More Creed

One of the reasons I didn't like last week's episode was that it lacked some of my favorite characters, namely Stanley and Creed.

Here's an idea:  Creed comes to dinner.  Now THERE'S an episode ...

About The Dinner Party ...

Chris Regal has a very good take on why The office is suffering

Last night's episode was very uncomfortable.  It certainly wasn't funny, though it was, in a a sense, interesting.  It really was more like an artsy movie than like a comedy.  So it wasn't horrible -- it elicited emotions (in this case, uncomfortable feelings) -- but that's not why we watch the show.

Regal noted that most of the episodes now take place outside the office.  This seems to be a trend among once-great shows.  Andy Griffith was always best when the episodes revolved around he and Barney at the jail.  I really don't care about Howard Spraig's mom's house...  Happy Days was best when most of the action was at Arnold's (or even Al's), etc.

For me, the problems began before the writer's strike.  I can't pinpoint exactly when the shark was jumped, but agree with Chris' analysis on what the problem is.  ... But I'm still waiting for a solution.  If you have one, let me know ...

Office Spin-Off?

... That's the rumor -- which i belive to be more reliable than the Condi for VP rumor.  (Pam and Angela were just on MSNBC talking about it.)

BTW, don't forget that they air a NEW EPISODE of THE OFFICE this Thursday!

So I'm Hearing

there will only be a hand-full of new episodes this year (due to the writers strike).

It's hard to say how significantly this strike will have hurt the series.  Do you think they will be able to rebound?

The Office premier kicked-off last night!

How was it?  I'd give it an A.

Lots of action.  Just to name a few things that happened:  Pam and Jim are now dating.  Karen's gone.

And, oh yeah, Michael has launched a campaign to Support the Rabid ...

Do Not Lose

Ever loan a co-worker your key, only to have them lose it (or break it)?  One of my associates has found that he is often loaning out his bathroom key.  Here's his "homemade" solution to making sure it gets returned ...

On Argyle Socks ...

... So with the season kickoff still more than a week away, I thought I'd take some time and talk about TH office.

So today is the first day in the DC-area which is, in my estimation, sweater-worthy.  As such, I'm sporting a v-neck, as well as some argyle socks.  I must confess, though the ladies at TH office like them, I've taken some ribbing from my male coworkers
